So if you checked out my previous blog on sewing my summer wardrobe (Here), you'll know that I spent most of the early part of this year creating the clothes for my holiday to the beautiful island of Kefalonia. I've just returned from an amazing 10 days and we had such a wonderful time! The weather was scorching hot, the location was beautiful and we ate some amazing Greek food. But most importantly, I wore all my lovely handmade outfits. There's something really special about wearing clothes you've made yourself. It fills me with so much confidence and pride knowing I've made my all my own clothes. And I didn't just wear the new outfits that I detailed in the previous blog; I wore some old favourites too!
Watermelon Dress
My watermelon dress is one of my favourite ever me-made garments! I made it around 2 years ago and it's my go-to dress to take on holiday. Its such a fun garment to wear and I always get so many compliments. The fabric is a lightweight polyester stretch jersey, so its a nice dress to wear in hot weather. I used the Cold Shoulder Pattern from Ellie & Mac which I modified heavily to create a strappy bodice and added a skirt which is cut from a circle skirt panel. This dress gives me so much joy to wear and I plan on wearing it on many more holidays yet to come!

Dani Separates
I tend to wear a lot of dresses on holiday, but last year I made a skirt and top set for a change. I love how these can be mixed and matched and paired with other clothes, but put together it looks like a dress! The fabric is a lightweight woven crepe which was perfect for the hot humid weather. I used the Dani Separates Pattern from Petite Stitchery. The top is a straightforward sew but the skirt was a bit of a labour of love! It has lots of godets sewn into the bottom to create the ruffled look, which took forever to sew and was very fiddley, but the finished look is fabulous so it was worth it!

Diana Dress
This is another old favourite that I've worn many times. I was a tester for the Ellie & Mac Diana Dress and have many many versions of it, but this is my favourite one! The fabric is a flamingo print ITY which is another great fabric choice for hot weather! I really love wearing this dress, both on holiday and at home. I feel so dressed up wearing it, yet it's so comfy and easy to wear!

High Hopes Cover Up
I made this coverup last year for my holiday to Gran Canaria and loved it so much I wore it again this holiday! I made it using the Ellie and Mac High Hopes Dolman pattern which I modified so it could be made with woven fabric rather than stretch. Check out the blog I wrote for the E&M Website giving a step by step guide of how to make it. Here
Fabric is floral chiffon from ABC Fabric
Dovie Dress
This is another new dress that I made especially for this holiday. I only just finished it the day before! The pattern is the Dovie Dress from Petite Stitchery and the fabric is pink flamingo cotton lycra. In case you haven't already guessed, I love flamingos!! So I just adored wearing this dress and it was definitely worth the last minute rush to make it!

What's Next?
I just love sewing summer clothing and have no plans to stop despite the disappointing UK weather. I have another holiday planned for October when I will be celebrating a BIG birthday (yes you guessed correct, 21!!) so I will be sewing from now to then and have big plans for my dream birthday/holiday wardrobe.
